Aunt Blames Lax Security for Niece's Killing

September 25, 2005 - 4:55pm
SILVER SPRING, Md. - The aunt of the 15-year-old girl killed in a fight after a high school football game in Silver Spring Friday night says her niece was the victim of lax security.

Candy Neal tells WRC that her niece Kanisha didn't stand a fighting chance because there weren't enough police officers and security guards around to protect her.

Montgomery County police Saturday charged a 15-year-old Sherwood High School student from Olney with second-degree murder in Kanisha Neal's death. Since she was charged as a juvenile, police can't reveal her identity.

Police say Neal was beaten and stabbed to death at around 8:30 p.m. in a fight between two groups of girls outside Blake High School in the 300-block of Norwood Road.

The fight started after a football game between Blake and Sherwood High.
