Washington, D.C. - April 26, 2004 - The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity, today nominated www.wtopnews.com as Best web radio site of 2004.

Hailed as "the online Oscars" by Time Magazine, The Webby Awards are determined by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a diverse organization that includes over 480 members such as musicians Beck and David Bowie, internet inventor Vint Cerf, political columnist Arianna Huffington, and "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening.

"The Webby Awards honors the outstanding web sites that are setting the standards for the internet," said Tiffany Shlain, founder of The Webby Awards.

"Wtopnews.com's Webby Award nomination is a testament to the imagination, ingenuity, and dedication of its creators," adds Maya Draisin, Executive Director of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

As a nominee for a Webby Award, wtopnews.com is also eligible to win a People's Voice Award. Voting is open to the public from April 20 - May 7, 2004 at www.webbyawards.com/peoplesvoice. The winners of The Eighth Annual Webby Awards will be announced online May 12, 2004 at webbyawards.com.

Founded in 1996, The Webby Awards are known worldwide for its famous five-words-or-less acceptance speeches.
