Darci Marchese

Darci Marchese, a multiple Edward R. Murrow award-winning reporter, started working at WTOP Radio in July 2005. She isn't new to the Bonneville family, having worked for KSL Newsradio in Salt Lake City, Utah for six years prior. In Salt Lake City, she won the Murrow award for Best News Series in the nation for "Violent Voices or Just Music."

Since working at WTOP Radio, Darci won best documentary for her in-depth series of reports, "Beyond the Purple Heart." It brought real-life, emotional stories depicting the struggles wounded warriors face after surviving a serious injury at war, and the courageous battle to get back on their feet. The series also documented the stories of heroes who take care of the wounded every single day at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Bethesda Naval Medical Center and Andrews Air Force Base.

Darci is proud to have completed another in-depth series, with co-worker Kate Ryan, The Loneliest Disease. The 20-part series breaks down what mental illness is and explores how it can -- and does -- touch every family across the globe. The series also takes a close look at suicide, which claims 80 percent more lives than homicides do in this country.

Darci wears many hats at WTOP Radio: reporting, producing and working as a managing editor.

At home however, she's just called "Mommy" by her adorable and funny 4-year-old daughter, Rachel. Her husband Wayne serves in the U.S. Air Force. Home is Buffalo, New York and NO, she doesn't like cold weather or snow. But she does get a kick out of this area freaking out over one-inch of the white stuff.
