Fight Over TV Remote Leads to Double Murder

September 18, 2007 - 1:37pm
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - A fight over a TV remote apparently led to a double murder last week in Fauquier County.

Dead are Robert E. Hawkins Sr., 83, and his son, Robert E. Hawkins Jr., 35.

Anthony James Poole was charged with two counts of murder. He is the son-in-law of the elder Hawkins.

Police say all three men lived in a home on Blackwells Mill Road near Goldvein, where the murders occurred.

Fauquier County Sheriff Charlie Ray Fox tells The Free Lance-Star the fight over the remote and seating arrangement had been brewing a while and Poole, 41, "just snapped."

Poole is being held without bond in the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center.
