RICHMOND, Va. -- You may not have to travel far and wide to catch a glimpse of Sasquatch.
The hairy, mythical creature could be right in our backyard.
Billy Willard of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia investigates reports of Big Foot sightings.
About two years ago, during an investigation in Varina -- just south of Richmond -- Willard's son saw something mysterious.
"He described it as a creature and said it was about 7-8 feet tall," Willard says. "It was gray-silver in color, very long and thick hair, matted down and he said it looked like it had mud on it."
Willard's son saw the creature in a forested area nestled between corn and soybean fields.
"There was actually a gash cut into the side of the embankment where it looked like something had slid down," Willard says.
In their searches for Sasquatch, Willard and his crew have stumbled upon some strange abnormalities in nature.
"When you have a limb that is 4 to 6 inches in diameter and something has grabbed ahold and twisted it around three or four times, that just doesn't happen naturally," Willard says. "In areas where you have a lot of sighting reports, you actually find that kind of activity."
The sighting really scared one of the teenagers in the group.
"It has affected their lives so much. We knew that they weren't making up a story," Willard says.
Sasquatch Watch of Virginia investigates Big Foot sightings to prove the creatures exist. Some people may say that requires a body, but Willard is not among the hunt-to-kill crowd.
"If I kill this thing, what if it turns out to be human?" Willard says.
