Fate Uncertain for Calvert Teacher Who Blasted Students on MySpace

June 10, 2007 - 8:33am
Kate Ryan, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON - What will happen to the Calvert County teacher who reportedly peppered her MySpace blog with profane commentary on parents and students?

We may never know officially.

Robin Welsh, with the Calvert County School system says the conduct of Southern Middle School teacher Anu Prabhakara is being investigated.

But if the school decides she should be disciplined, because of privacy laws "we're not allowed to share that information," she says.

Welsh says the school system does have policies on Internet use, posted on its Web site.

But she says, "We don't have control over employees and what they do outside of the job, except for when it impacts the employee's ability to do their job effectively."

As far as whether Prabhakara crossed that line with her allegedly profanity-laced rants, privacy laws prevent Welsh from elaborating.

WTOP has been unable to contact Prabhakara.
