Paris Hilton's Pet Monkey Declared Illegal

November 29, 2005 - 10:39am
LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton has been forced to give up her newest pet, a monkey named Baby Luv, after the California Department for Fish and Game declared it an illegal pet.

Hilton, who bought the monkey -- a kinkajou -- during a trip to Las Vegas last summer, allegedly refused to part with Baby Luv so animal authorities went to her home to confiscate the animal, All Headline News reported.

According to All Headline News, Hilton reportedly broke down and sobbed when animal authorities took Baby Luv away.

An insider is quoted in Britain's Daily Star as saying: "Paris adores animals but she's too impulsive and often buys exotic pets without understanding how to care for them or whether they can legally be kept as pets."

While filming in Queensland, Hilton fell in love with a baby kangaroo and "asked for it to be boxed up and shipped back home, but she was forced to send it back when she discovered they grow up to be very violent," the source added, according to All Headline News.

The source also said Hilton "had no idea she was breaking the law when she smuggled him into L.A."
