Why We Do This

  • Back when our fearless News Director Mike McMearty was an editor and he thought the news in a particular hour was too depressing, he would do a search for the word 'monkey' to find a story to lighten things up. (How's that for revealing the wizard behind the curtain?) So he gets credit for the idea of creating a page just for Monkey News.

Now over the years some of you -- well, one of you -- has written to correctly point out that many of the stories featured here are not technically about "monkeys" and perhaps we should name it Primate News.

Our response to that is: you must be a lot of fun at cocktail parties. Primates aren't funny. Monkeys are funny. Enjoy.
