Forget the Diet Pills for Your Dog

October 11, 2007 - 8:36am
UNDATED - A diet pill for your dog?

Slentrol, a new diet drug for dogs, can cut their weight by one fifth, The Daily Mail reports. But, veterinarians say it's not a substitute for good food or for taking Fido for a walk.

The Pfizer drug is marketed to dog owners who just can't resist giving their pet treats or who don't have time for walks.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals cautions that the growing use of 'lifestyle drugs' for dogs could mask the real problems underlying their ill- health.
