NEW ORLEANS - It's been six months since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, and residents are finding the rebuilding of their homes to be a difficult task.

Elaine Conaway's experience is typical. Her home was flooded when Katrina swept through the South.

It took the U.S. Postal Service worker three months to get a trailer from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Then it took another month to get electricity.

Conaway called her insurance company the day after her home was flooded.

"It took the adjuster three, four months before he met with us. He came out and inspected the property. He said it was a total loss."

She's still waiting for a check from the insurance company as her family lives in the trailer that the government considers a $10,000 asset as Conaway files for other assistance.

Conaway says she does get frustrated with the bureaucracy.

"I feel I'm being given the run around by the insurance company."
