Two Stabbed Outside of Va. High School

June 15, 2006 - 5:17pm
BURKE, Va. -- Fairfax County police are learning more about what led to the stabbings outside Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke on Wednesday.

Investigators say the stabbings occurred about 3 p.m. when several teenagers -- who are not Lake Braddock students -- confronted three students in a parking lot.

Police say a fight broke out and one of the students was assaulted.

After the first student was assaulted, a second student, identified as a 17-year-old boy from the Fairfax area, stabbed two of the teens.

One of the victims was stabbed in the back and the other was hurt in the abdomen. Neither wound was serious.

The student who stabbed the teens was detained after the incident. Police continue to investigate.

Earlier that afternoon, the school was under lockdown.

A school district spokesman says there were approximately 100 students in the building while the lockdown took place, but everyone was sent home safely.
