Smithsonian Offers Help to Students Affected by Katrina

September 4, 2005 - 8:49am
WASHINGTON - College students affected by Hurricane Katrina are now getting a chance to come to the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

The museum says it will offer internships and appointments to students and faculty members who have had their fall semesters canceled because of the storm.

Undergraduates may apply for internships, while graduate students and faculty are being asked to apply for appointments as visiting scholars at the museum.

The museum also says it will help in the temporary relocation of potential interns.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, and the museum's office of academic services will remain open through Labor Day weekend to accept resumes, and answer questions.
