Buying a new home in our area is costly enough. But, in Prince George's County concern about crime could drive up the price even further.
The county is planning to build more police substations. To pay for them, it is imposing a public safety surcharge on developers. That surcharge is expected to be at least $2,000 per house.
Will that cost be passed on to you?
Md. Senator Gloria Lawlah says there is that chance.
"However, we are hopeful that this will address the growing need in public safety in Prince George's County. We are on the front page every day."
