Man Arrested in Music Producer's Murder

April 11, 2007 - 11:07am
WASHINGTON - Police have arrested a man in the death of a well-known Prince George's County music producer.

Raymond Brown, known in the industry as Scottie Beats, was shot and killed last October after he chased down a tow truck driver who had stolen his car from his Mitchellville home.

Prince George's County Police believe 19-year-old Neiman Marcus Edmonds, of Upper Marlboro, is one of several people involved in Brown's death.

Edmonds was arrested in D.C. Tuesday morning on a warrant from Prince George's County Police.

Brown initially called 911 to report that his car was being taken, but was told by emergency dispatchers to call back later.

Three county emergency communications workers were placed on administrative leave after an investigation revealed they had apparently treated the incident as a repossession and had not followed established procedures.
