WSSC Looks for Sewer Leaks

September 9, 2005 - 6:34am
LANDOVER, Md, - Smoke testing of sewer pipes is gets underway Friday in Prince George's County.

Crews, who will need to come into your yard, will inject a harmless smoke into pipes around Landover, Cheverly and Beaver Heights to look for leaks.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says while the smoke has a slight odor, it won't harm people or pets.

While it's normal for the test smoke to come out of vent pipes on top of homes, signs of leakage include smoke coming from downspouts, drains or from the ground.
