Children's Inn at NIH

January 1, 2009 - 8:13pm

About The Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health:
The Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health is a "place like home" for sick children and their families. Children come from across the country and around the world to stay together in a healing environment while receiving groundbreaking therapies at the NIH.

A Place To Heal:
*Together at The Inn, families support and care for each other. The emotional support a family gives to a sick child is invaluable. The care and empathy families give one another is equally powerful.

A Place of Hope:
* Children and their families seek treatment at NIH as their last best hope for a healthy future. These young patients are facing medical challenges that range from cancers to rare genetic illnesses. Some diseases have yet to be identified. Often, NIH, the world's leading biomedical research center, is the only medical center offering treatment - and the promise of a cure.

A Place To Be Kids:
* While the NIH takes care of the child's medical needs, The Inn tends to the child's heart, soul and spirit. At the end of a long day of pokes and prods at the hospital, kids come home to The Inn just to be kids - to paint a picture with mom, read a book with dad or just hang out with siblings or friends.
