Lisa Baden

Lisa is one of the fortunate few who always knew the answer to the often-asked question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Without hesitation, she'd reply, "I want to be on the radio!"

Her destiny was revealed when she was in the 3rd grade. Her debut: leading the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and playing a patriotic record on the school Public Address system.

With years of experience doing PA announcements and a Mass Communication degree in hand, Lisa (who has a little moxie, if you haven't noticed), walked into a local radio station and announced to the Program Director, "I want to be on the radio!" (By the way - this isn't the method of choice.)

He kindly explained that she needed more experience and suggested she get it at the University of Maryland campus radio station, WMUC. The next hurdle: in order to "work" at the campus radio station, you had to be (at least) a part time student. But school costs money, and Lisa didn't have any of that.

Determined to achieve her goal, she found out that full time employees of the University receive the benefit of 2 free classes on campus each semester - just enough to meet the requirement for working at the radio station.

Six months later, she had a job at the University, lots of experience at WMUC, and the Program Director was so impressed - he hired her part time!

Lisa never imagined being a traffic reporter, but she's found it challenging and rewarding. "Getting up at 3 am has never been easy, but it's so worth it when you're doing something you love!"

Her unique style of humor is not a mistake, but part of her master plan to help dispel road rage.
