Deer Romps Through Home

November 23, 2006 - 9:10am
VIENNA, Va. - A Vienna family is thankful that no one was seriously hurt when a deer rampaged through their home.

Roland and Edna Golden say they were baby-sitting their three grandchildren on Nov. 11 when the buck jumped through the bay window of their home on Cantata Court.

The deer just missed their baby grandson lying on the floor when it landed, then ran over Roland as he was watching television.

The buck kicked their 8-year-old grandson in the head, but he wasn't injured because he had just put on his football helmet to go play.

A grown son was able to tackle the animal in the kitchen, and the family got neighbors to help tie it up. They eventually took it outside and set it free.

A Fairfax County police spokesman calls what happened "a series of miracles."
