WASHINGTON - You don't have to stay up late or sip champagne to have a good time this New Year's Eve.
There are celebrations across the D.C. area which are both family-friendly and easy going on the wallet.
The New Year's celebration in Annapolis will have two fireworks shows at 7:30 p.m. and midnight. The celebration will also include karaoke, a battle of the bands, an ice sculpture demonstration, a comedy club and an appearance by SpongeBob SquarePants for the kids.
Barbara Cram, the Director of Watch Night in Falls Church, says the town's free event will include a velcro wall, a scavenger hunt and guided tours of the historic Falls Church. There will be free shuttles from the East Falls Church metro station to all of the venues, along with ample amounts of free parking.
First night in Alexandria will feature over 100 performances before their own fireworks show at midnight. The celebration starts with a "fun hunt" around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The First Night celebration in Leesburg and Warrenton will also feature 100 performances, including 20 indoor performances in both towns.
Most local New Year's celebration require tickets, and those that are attached with a price fall between $10 and $20.
