Water leaking on electric panel causes fire

December 23, 2009 - 9:39am
KINGSTOWNE, Va. - An accidental fire in an apartment building utility room has displaced 16 people who live in 14 apartments.

The fire Tuesday night occurred at The Elms at Kingstowne on Rock Cliff Lane.

The fire at the three-story, 24 unit complex did an estimated $100,000 damage.

The Red Cross is assisting the 11 adults and five children.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units brought the fire under control in 30 minutes. No one was injured.

Water that leaked on to an electric panel in a ground floor utility room caused the fire.
