Mother charged in SE murder initially admitted stabbing daughter

December 30, 2008 - 6:10pm

WASHINGTON - The woman accused of murdering her 7 year-old daughter initially admitted to the crime, according to court documents released at Carlese Hall's arraignment in D.C. Superior Court Tuesday afternoon.

Hall has since changed her statement that last Friday she stabbed her daughter Amari, herself, and then lit her Southeast D.C. home on fire with her daughter still inside. Autopsy reports show Amari Hall died from a stab wound to the chest.

Shortly after being taken into custody, Carlese Hall tested positive for opiates and PCP. She is being held without bond on charges on felony murder and cruelty to children.
