Financial crisis spurs new words

UNDATED -- The financial crisis has spawned dozens of new words, and some of them you may never have heard of.

You've probably heard of frugalista and staycations. But what about chiconomic, bangster and furcation?

Visual Thesaurus has a list. Among its terms:

chiconomic: style-conscious on a budget.

furcation: a polite term for unpaid time off combining furlough and vacation.

crecession: mixing credit crisis and recession to describe the current crisis.

duppie: acronym for depressed urban professional or downwardly mobile urban professional.

bankster: combination of banker and gangster.

homeindulging: socializing at home because money is tight.

bleisure: the blurring of work and home time.

From the Double-Tongued Dictionary:

grayfield: a failing mall

innerpreneur: an entrepreneur who is working for the sole purpose of personal growth.
