January 3, 2009 - 3:32pm
by Staff @ Fairfax County Times

The Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program at Falls Church High School is one of five programs across the nation and the only one in Virginia selected to be a Schoolwide Superstar by AVID.

The AVID elective offers higher-level thinking skills, strategies for school success, test preparation, college and career exploration, oral language and speaking skills, and research skills. Students are also offered tutorials in collaborative study, higher-level questioning, problem solving and project planning. They are also exposed to guest speakers, field experiences, thinking games and motivational activities.
