Clara Barton Parkway ramp to Beltway closed

August 19, 2008 - 11:59am
WASHINGTON - The ramp that connects the westbound Clara Barton Parkway to the southbound Beltway is closed for repairs, the Maryland State Highway Administration says.

The ramp will be closed for the next 10 or 11 weeks, Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman Dave Buck says.

The $2 million rehabilitation project includes building a bridge deck, cleaning the bridge's beams, and minor repairs on the approaching roadway.

The SHA says the bridge is structurally safe, but repairs to the bridge deck are needed.

"This gets us an extra 25-30 years on the riding surface or deck," Buck says.

A detour will be set up, allowing drivers to use the next exit at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (Forrestal Road). Drivers will then cross over to the eastbound side of the Clara Barton Parkway, which will allow them to access I-495 Southbound.
