MARC Line Reopens After Train Kills Person

April 20, 2006 - 11:33am
ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Rail service was halted on MARC's Brunswick Line after a person was struck and killed by an empty train in Rockville during the Wednesday rush hour.

Montgomery County police spokeswoman Lucille Baur says a woman was hit about 4 p.m. on the CSX tracks near Wyaconda Road and Boiling Brook Parkway.

Police later identified the woman as Elisabeth Stanford, 16, of Silver Spring.

Stanford was seen standing on the train tracks by the CSX conductor, police say.

The line reopened at 6:40 p.m. Additional buses were brought in to accommodate the thousands of commuters relying on rail service.
