MLB Still Skeptical on Revised Stadium Deal

February 8, 2006 - 6:24pm
WASHINGTON - Not so fast is what Major League Baseball officials are saying about the revised stadium deal approved by the D.C. Council Wednesday morning.

MLB officials say they still haven't seen everything the council added to the agreement.

The council approved the deal between the city and Major League Baseball hours after rejecting the initial proposal. Four members flipped their votes after Mayor Tony Williams urged them to reconsider, and they attached a bill capping city spending on the project at $611 million.

Baseball spokesman Rich Levin says baseball officials are still concerned about what they heard during the debate and they need to study all the documents before deciding whether to sign.

He says they need to determine whether they are consistent with the agreements baseball and the city have made so far.
