Storm causes beach erosion in Ocean City

November 14, 2009 - 8:17am

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - Ocean City suffered severe beach erosion and lost some of its dunes in the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida.

Ocean City public relations director Donna Abbott says the resort is still dealing with the storm and has a few more high tides cycles to go through before doing a full assessment of the damage.

She said while there was some loss of the dunes, there was no overwash.

Philadelphia Road was closed from 15th Street to North Division Street; traffic was being redirected onto Baltimore Street.

Abbot says there was no major property damage or traffic accidents.
