Man struck, killed by Metro train

SHADY GROVE, Md. - A man was struck and killed by a Metro train Wednesday morning at the Shady Grove station.

The train was headed to Glenmont when it hit the 50-year-old man at around 9:50 a.m. Witnesses say he intentionally put himself on the tracks.

The man had to be pulled out from under the Red Line train. He was taken to a local hospital and died a short time later.

Metro riders on the Red Line experienced delays throughout the morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
