Urban Trust Bank discontinues credit cards

November 6, 2008 - 7:04am
Veronica Robinson, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON - Urban Trust Bank has discontinued its credit cards.

"All credit providers are pulling back in this market," says Urban Trust Bank Executive Vice President Kathy Boden Holland.

So what's to blame in Urban Trust's case? Is it the credit crunch? The shrinking availability of credit?

"I don't want to go into all the proprietary issues associated with it. I think it's reflective of what a lot of credit card issuers are experiencing," Boden Holland says.

While Urban Trust Bank branches are in Florida, the bank does have branches in Landover and Bethesda.

You won't find any information on the bank's Web site about the discontinuation. When you go to the credit card page, it tells you the bank is "working to improve the information currently available on our credit card products."

If you have one of the bank's cards, you should continue to pay off your balance.
