WASHINGTON - A hiker-biker trail along a highway? It's an idea that's gaining momentum, especially as gas prices are forcing people to get creative.

The Montgomery County Planning Board will hold a meeting on a hiker-biker trail with segments that will parallel the 18-mile InterCounty Connector currently under construction. The ICC will link Gaithersburg to Laurel.

Among the issues: What will the trail look like? Should it be a paved surface or do environmental concerns in some areas like the Upper Paint Branch Stream Valley Park make that less desirable?

The Planning Board says 'minor changes' to the ICC, like alignment and two interchanges, will also be discussed.

The public hearing is scheduled for July 10. Public comment will be limited to two hours.

For more information, click here or call the Planning Board at (301) 495-4600.
