MARC Riders Could Face Delays on Ride Home

November 7, 2007 - 5:43pm
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - A situation on MARC rail could have some riders facing delays Wednesday evening.

Train 871 was traveling westbound when it hit a trailer on the tracks near the Metropolitan Grove Station on the Brunswick Line at around 2:30 p.m.

There were no injuries, but train 881, which normally leaves Union Station at 6 p.m., has been cancelled.

Instead, train 879 will be held until 6 p.m. It usually leaves the District at 5:35 p.m.

The tracks were reopened about 5:30 p.m., but authorities say trains will be required to travel through the area at reduced speeds.

Ride On buses have been called in to move passengers near the site of the accident.
