Pin Found in Middle Schooler's Salad

May 24, 2007 - 7:25am
CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) - A student at Rocky Run Middle School in Fairfax County found a straight pin at the bottom of her salad container Wednesday.

The 13-year-old didn't eat any of the salad she bought at the school, and was not injured before she reported the discovery to school officials. The school then contacted police.

Pins were found in food three times at Rachel Carson Middle School in Fairfax last month.

Paul Regnier, spokesman for Fairfax County Public Schools, says officials don't know who is doing this or why, but that it's not a prank. He says it's a serious felony and the police will find whoever is doing it.

Rocky Run's principal sent a letter home to parents this afternoon saying the school will increase staff supervising the food and students in line.
