CBS Radio's Ranjan Gupta dies

WASHINGTON - Some sad news about a voice heard on WTOP for more than a decade.

Ranjan Gupta, CBS Radio News' correspondent in India, has died from complications related to a heat wave sweeping through the eastern part of the country.

Gupta died in suburban Calcutta, where temperatures have soared to 118 degrees.

Gupta's remains were cremated Wednesday in New Delhi and will be scattered tomorrow along the Ganges River.

Gupta last spoke with WTOP in February about the excitement in India following the 8 Academy Awards the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' won this past year.
