Loudoun fire chief calls for investigation into firefighter injuries

May 31, 2008 - 9:39am
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Chief Joseph Pozzo is launching an investigation to find out how and why five firefighters were injured in a two-alarm blaze near Leesburg last weekend.

The multi-jurisdictional investigation team, headed up by Division Chief Richie Bowers of Montgomery County, is charged with reconstructing the events that led up to the injuries.

According to "Leesburg Today" the team will review all aspects of the fire along with department policies and overall command at the scene of the fire on Meadowood Court.

One firefighter remains at Washington Hospital Center in serious but stable condition. A draft report of the team's findings is expected in 30 to 45 days with a final report within 90-days.
